Overview

AcroLaugh is a chat game created by Souperman and modified for Talk City by VViLL.

Each round starts when the bot generates a string of letters, which is the acronym (or ACRO) for that round. Players must try to create a funny phrase for the acronym. For example if the acronym is "LTR," you might enter "Large Tasty Rats" or "Lively Tuna Rodeo." The game is run by AcroBot, an automated chatter who will give you instructions on what to do as the game progresses.

How To Play

When you enter the game room, you will see a message that reads "Topic: Come up with the funniest words for this acronym:" followed by the acronym for that round. Random rounds will include a topic you need to consider when writing your phrase. For example, if the acronym is "SRF" and the topic is "Rejected candle scents," you might enter the phrase "Scary Rancid Fish."

To enter your acronym, type in "/msg AcroBot Your Answer." Players are only allowed one entry per round. Each round lasts 60 seconds (70 for acronyms with five or more letters), so you'll have to get your answer in quickly.

When AcroBot receives your entry, you'll see a private message telling you what number player you are for that round of voting. At the end of the round, the bot will give you a numbered list of all of the phrases entered. You then vote for the one you think was funniest (you can't vote for yourself). You do so by entering "/msg AcroBot 2" if you want to vote for phrase number 2, for example. All players have 30 seconds to vote, after which AcroBot announces the winner for that round.

Scoring

Players are awarded a point for each vote received during the rounds. The player (or players, in case of a tie) with the most votes gets three points. The player who votes the fastest gets a bonus point for that round. Players that forget to vote lose all points for that round. After 21 rounds the game ends and the total score for each player is tallied and the player with the highest score of at least 30 points wins. If no player has scored 30 points, there is no winner for that game. Game winners earn one point toward a spot in the AcroLaugh top 10 high scores.

Game Commands

These are the commands AcroBot responds to. These commands are entered in the main chat room:

/msg AcroBot <your phrase>  During game play, submits your entry for the round
/msg AcroBot DelAcro Deletes your entry so you can enter a new one
/msg AcroBot <number> During voting, enters your vote for the round
/msg AcroBot ? Repeats the acronym for that round

(You can also submit your votes and/or entries to AcroBot via private message.)
