How do I open up a room of my own?

Just click here to get started. You'll be asked to log in if you're not logged in already. If you're not a Talk City member, you'll have to become one. Select the Talk Citizen Room Owner plan.

How much does a room cost?

Room Ownership packages are $49.50 per year.

How can I use a bot in my room?

Bots (short for "robots") are automated chat room "participants" that can manage games, make jokes, or provide help to new chatters. Talk City does not supply bots. But as a room owner, you may may rent or purchase a bot for your room from a third-party vendor (or create your own if you have the technical know-how). To use a bot, you will have to purchase IRC access for it at the regular price of $7.77 per year (bots must adhere to the Talk City Standards). Popular bot vendors are ShadowBotz (Web site | Talk City Room) and TheBotCity (Web site | Talk City Room).

How do I open a private room?

Talk City does not offer private rooms at this time.

What are the requirements to becoming a Room Owner?

Before purchasing a room please read over our Terms Of Service as well as our Talk City Standards. We reserve the right to refuse any Room Ownerships based on these rules.

How do I give ops?

Go to Controls
Go to Set Privileges
Type in a name, or a partial name.
Click on the name

There will be a list of things you can do, such as gag, lock out, give a folder privilege if you have any restricted folders, and give ops. Click on the box that you want, then look down at the bottom left of that screen, click on the apply button.
